Pastor Wendell was born in Ephrata, PA to a former Amish dairy farmer and his wife who sold the farm to become missionaries to Germany. Therefore, when he was 9 the family moved to Germany, where they served as missionaries for 25 years. Wendell stayed in Germany until returning to the US for college (he was a mathematics major at Gordon College in Wenham, MA). After college, he spent six years in China teaching English and studying Mandarin Chinese. During that time God brought Wendell and Priscilla (who was also in China for a period) together. They had been together in the nursery at a Bible Church in Lancaster County many years earlier. Upon returning from China, Wendell and Priscilla were married. Soon afterwards, Wendell enrolled at Westminster Theological Seminary, graduating in the year 2000. Wendell came to Covenant Church in 2004, after serving three years as a church planter in Pottstown, PA. Wendell and Priscilla have three children.
